9 Questions to Ask Yourself Before Buying a Motorhome

We think of purchasing an RV as an investment in yourself. By weighing all the factors—the fundamentals, industry trends and your goals—you’ll be rewarded handsomely for making the right decision. You’ll go places you’ve never gone, meet new friends, enjoy new experiences and realize the unique kind of flexibility motorhomes afford travelers.

Here are some of the questions shoppers in your shoes are considering. The weight they carry will be different for each shopper, but they’re all important as you establish priorities and get closer to finding the motorhome that suits you just right.

1. Where will I be able to go?

This is one of the really fun questions to answer. A motorhome offers a rare brand of freedom. Serene escapes, big-time events or historical sites, it’s never too early to start planning your route to the places you’ve always wanted to go. Or, are you on the flip side of that coin and just want to get out there and see where the road takes you? If you ask us, they’re all nice choices to have to make.

 2. How much do I want to spend?

There’s a two-part answer here. The first answer is how much you’re willing and able to spend on a luxury coach—upfront and financed. We’ve expanded our lineup to offer a large range of prices, so travelers have several options to choose from.

Part two is the exciting one. This is where the adventure you’ve been dreaming of starts to come to life. You get to start planning for all the places you’ll go and exciting things you’ll do. It’s also a good time to consider other cost factors: potentially reduced costs at your brick and mortar home while on the road, your fuel budget, and bucket-list resorts where you can reserve or purchase a site.

3. What do I want to drive?

There is a big difference between driving a 45-foot Class A coach and a 25-foot Class C motorhome. Finding the unit that you enjoy driving as much as you’ll enjoy your time your time at camp is crucial. And yes, it is possible.

Our Luxury Diesel models are the quietest riding, best handling coaches on the market today. Period. And our gas Class A and Class C models are each equipped with a tailored blend of premium ride and handling gear called E-Z Drive®. A test drive is a big help in answering this question. Here are a few things to look for when you get the chance to hit the road.

 4. Is this really happening?

For those in the market for a luxury motorhome, it can often be a bit of a “pinch me” situation. Your reward is in sight; the possibilities are truly endless. Allow us to just go ahead and respond to this one for you: yes, you’ve earned it! Take a deep breath and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime.

5. What will I be able to bring?

Whether healthcare devices, the right wardrobe or furry friends, travelers have certain things they want or need to bring with them. A luxury motorhome changes the game. Instead of adjusting to the facilities at a hotel—and the space in your suitcase—you’re able to have more of your own things with you and situate them exactly how you prefer.

Exterior pass-through storage, kitchen pantries, bedroom wardrobes, bonus storage under beds and living area furniture are features to keep an eye out for.

6. What will I tow?

If you’re just beginning your search for a motorhome, or just seeing what the lifestyle is all about, you may not even be aware that motorhomes are typically capable of towing another vehicle, trailer or toy. If you have a vehicle you’ll prefer to get around in at your destinations or plan to travel with a lot of gear, you’ll want to know what it weighs and how much the motorhomes you’re looking at can tow.

7. Who will I be traveling with?

There will surely be a core crew taking to the road in the coach, but if you fancy hosting, a luxury coach provides rare opportunities to do so. The grandkids can join for an entire trip or you can have friends join as you swing through a certain region. How often and how many people you host is something you’ll want to keep in mind when deciding between floorplans and/or sleeping capacities. This will inform you as you decide between a bunk arrangement or gamer setup for the kids or grandkids, an extra dropdown bunk above the cabin, or maximum storage for long hauls with your one and only.

8. Where will I store my motorhome?

If you have a facility of your own that you’re thinking may work, you’ll definitely want to keep heights and lengths in mind as you shop to make sure it’s a fit. If you don’t have a space, you may want to research what other options are available to you.

9. What will my support system be like?

The purchase of a luxury coach unlocks independence unlike any other. While on the road, it’s invaluable to have support from people back home or in different parts of the country that are both aware of and understand the exciting coach lifestyle.

It’s equally valuable for your dealer and the manufacturer of your unit, even fellow owners, to support you as you venture out. At Entegra Coach, we go to great lengths to do that. With consistently sold-out owners rallies across the country, the friendly notes we receive and beautiful photos we see from those who travel in our coaches and our amazing dealers, how could we not?

The warranty is a big part of the backing you’ll have as you venture out too. We suggest comparing them closely. Ours is twice as long as most, with coverage for up to two years. And we think you’ll find the “limited” warranty more comprehensive than the “structural” version some competitors offer.

We hope you’ll choose Entegra Coach and become a part of the family. Speak with or visit your nearest dealer today to learn more about our coaches and who we are.
