Staying in our motorhome often requires creative storage solutions due to limited space. Going from our 4500 square foot home to approximately 540 square foot coach requires serious organization and creative thinking. We recommend that you focus on maximizing every inch of your Entegra Coach. Here are some of our favorite storage hacks, combining common practices with some clever twists:

Leveraging Existing Storage:

Entegra Coach Storage:
  • Understand the unique storage features of your coach. Many high-end coaches have hidden compartments, slide-out trays, and specialized drawers. Familiarize yourself with every nook and cranny.
  • Utilize the basement storage to its fullest. Consider slide-out trays or custom-built shelves to organize larger items. We like to use clear totes to keep items from shifting during travel and make it easy to find things. We label the lids using painters’ tape to easily remove and update when we add to or remove items from totes.

Toilet Paper Storage:

  • Storing a 6-month supply is impressive! Utilizing the space above the toilet is a smart move where we can store 16 XL rolls at a time, along with a few other items (we have the D floorplan with huge cabinet above the toilet).

Slim Laundry Baskets:

  • Wheeled laundry baskets are a game-changer in a small space. We each have our own basket. When one is full, we run a load of laundry. One full basket fits into our coach’s washing machine.
  • Consider collapsible laundry baskets for when they are not in use to save space.
Cabinet Optimization:
  • Adjustable shelves are invaluable. If your cabinets have them, rearrange them to fit your specific needs.
  • Cabinet door organizers: Attach small shelves or pockets to the inside of cabinet doors for spices, utensils, or other small items.
  • Totes: Use short clear totes to organize spices, canned goods and other items. We found totes that fit perfectly in the overhead storage compartments above our sofa. Totes make moving in and out of the coach easy, since we never leave food for uninvited guests. We use 1 inch round labels on top of spice lids to quickly find spices as we cook.
  • Baskets: We utilize small baskets that fit perfectly in our bathroom medicine cabinets. These keep items from shifting during travel and also make moving in and out easy.
Bed Storage:
  • We utilize the area under our bed for wine, larger appliances and items we don’t use all the time.
  • We utilize the storage cabinets above our bed for linens and extra pillows. I know some folks like to put their CPAP machine in this cabinet as well.

Creative Storage Solutions:

Window/Wall Organization:

  • Tension Rods: Use tension rods to hang window pockets to organize items near the passenger seat, couch and bed. I make window pockets using favorite fabric and placemats. Tension rods also work well in the shower for swimsuits and other wet items.
  • Magnetic Strips: Use magnetic strips to hold knives, tools, or even small metal containers.
  • Tiny Hammock: Use a tiny hammock over your small kitchen window valance to hold coffee K-cups or other items.
Stackable and Collapsible:
  • Invest in stackable pots and pans to save cabinet space.
  • Choose collapsible bowls, strainers, and other kitchenware to save space. We also use a collapsible dish drainer that fits into our sink when we travel.

Wall-Mounted Dispensers:
  • Install wall-mounted soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers to eliminate clutter and secure items while traveling.
  • Velcro, Bungees and Command Strips: These are your friends! They can secure items to walls and cabinets without causing damage.
  • Over-the-Door Organizers: These can be used for everything from shoes to toiletries to food and drinks.
  • Stackable Bins and Containers: Maximize vertical space in cabinets and closets.
  • Vacuum-Sealed Bags: Great for storing clothing and bedding, especially for long trips. These fit nicely under the bed.

Downsizing Considerations:

The "One In, One Out" Rule:
  • For every new item you bring into your coach get rid of an old one. This helps prevent clutter from accumulating. I know, it’s hard, but it’s worth it.
Digital Alternatives:
  • Replace physical books, pictures, DVDs, and CDs with digital versions to save space. We travel with a digital photo frame and love uploading our travel adventures and also enjoy pictures of our family and friends.
Evaluate Needs Regularly:
  • Periodically reassess what you're storing. You may find that you don't need certain items after all. Every year, I empty a few cabinets and repack. I find that I no longer use some items and can donate things along the way.

By combining these hacks with your existing clever strategies, you can create a comfortable and efficient living space that is an organized and enjoyable living experience in your Entegra Coach.
