The first day of summer is finally here—bringing longer days, warmer nights, and the perfect excuse to head outside and make lasting family memories. For many campers, summer means one thing: adventure. And if there’s one family who knows how to plan for it, it’s us, also known as @nordmanfamilyadventures.

As part-time motorhome enthusiasts and full-time memory makers, we know that a great summer doesn’t happen by chance—it happens by design. That’s why we sit down as a family early in the year to start building our ultimate summer bucket list.

We’ve learned that the earlier we plan, the more intentional (and fun!) our summer becomes.

Here are a few of the Nordman Family’s top tips for planning a summer filled with adventure, connection, and outdoor fun:

1. Start with the Big Picture

Long before school lets out or the weather heats up, we look ahead at summer calendars and start mapping out what’s possible. One of the first things we check? Opening dates for campgrounds, resorts, and national parks. Knowing when key locations become available helps us anchor our schedule and avoid last-minute booking stress.

2. Everyone Gets a Say

Summer fun is better when everyone feels involved. That’s why we make sure the kids have a voice in the planning. Whether it’s choosing a campground near a favorite hike or picking a new state to explore, every family member adds a destination (or two!) to the list.

3. Match the Trip to the Timeframe

Not every destination fits into a weekend. We've gathered their bucket list ideas, we consider how many days each location deserves. A quick two-day getaway might be perfect for a nearby lake, while a week-long trip could mean crossing state lines for something bigger. That flexibility helps them balance work schedules, holidays, and travel time.

4. Lock It In and Let the Fun Begin

As soon as dates and destinations are agreed upon, the bookings begin. Campsites, tours, and must-do local activities get scheduled early so we can relax and look forward to what’s ahead. Plus, having a plan means we can start prepping fun activities, meal ideas, and packing lists in advance—making each trip smooth and stress-free.

Whether it’s hiking a scenic trail, discovering a national landmark, or simply roasting marshmallows under the stars, we believe that summer is about making time for what matters most: being together outdoors.

So on this first official day of summer, grab your calendar, gather the family, and start dreaming big.

Your next adventure is just a plan away. Happy Summer from Entegra Coach and the Nordman Family!

Entegra Coach Ambassadors: Vision XL

Sara and Kyle are brand new to the motorhome lifestyle. Since their kids have grown older, they've been inspired to show them this great nation that we live in and what better way to see it than by traveling in their motorhome! Sometimes it's not just the destination but the journey and traveling in their Entegra Coach Vision XL that allows them to enjoy the journey. Their travel plans will mostly revolve around weekends and extended weekends, so it’s a perfect fit for them with both working full time and two children in school. This lifestyle does require a bit of warrior spirit, as they are often on a tighter schedule with fewer days to reach their destination and make the most of the experience. They are excited to use the motorhome to explore every state and venture off the beaten path.
